D’Angelo Estate Winery Tours

Located on the Naramata Bench, D'Angelo Winery is family owned and operated. We produce 100% estate grown grapes and all of our wines are produced on-site. We focus on quality dry red and producing rare varieties such as Tempranillo and Montepulciano, but we also produce excellent whites and red fortified wines. A dream became a reality 40 years ago for Sal D'Angelo. The accomplished winemaker purchased a 50 acre plot of land in Amherstburg ON back in 1983. The search for land for a vineyard originally began in 1979 as Sal had an ambition to start his own winery. Sal then set his sights on BC and in 2001 when he purchased a plot of land on the Naramata Bench making Sal the first individual grower-vintner to produce wines in both Ontario and British Columbia.

We’re just a little south of Peachland, a little ways north of Summerland on Hwy 97 at the historic Greata Ranch site. It’s quiet out here. Serene. A peaceful oasis on a bench above Okanagan Lake with some incredible views. And, of course, there's all this wine to try too. We opened our first winery in 1986—CedarCreek Estate Winery—and grew it into a two time Canadian Winery of the Year. We learned more than a few things about making wine in the Okanagan along the way, but none more important than the need to pay close attention to what your land is telling you to do. There is no better school than time, and no better teacher than your land. All you have to do is listen.

Haywire Winery Tours

Our estate vineyards in Summerland, BC are what started this journey and what keeps us going. Both cool-climate sites, but with very different soil and perspectives. Farmed both organically and sustainably, we are proud to nurture this land for the future. Haywire Winery takes a hands-off approach to winemaking, focusing all efforts on the vineyard, where we farm with the goal of bringing healthy, optimally ripe grapes to the cellar door at harvest. While the use of winemaking additives has always been minimal, the winery has continued to eliminate these. The team now counts on organic grapes, which can support fermentation using native yeast alone. The rare use of oak in the cellar is limited to old neutral French puncheons that do not impart flavour. Sulphur dioxide is only used sparingly, if at all. All of these components allow us to make wines that are symbolic of our spectacularly beautiful winegrowing region. Light, juicy, great texture and structured wines that are not masked by oak flavours.
